Those honored have gone above and beyond in their roles. Their efforts often take place behind the scenes, but they play an important part in keeping our schools running smoothly. While it is always a team effort, this night was set aside to recognize their contributions.
Thank you for the work you put in every day. It was an honor to celebrate you all. 👏🎉
In celebration of National Poetry Month, West Haven Public Schools students were recognized last night at the Land Trust of West Haven “Poet-Tree” Celebration, with winners from Pagels, Seth Haley, Washington, Forest, Mackrille, Carrigan, Bailey, and WHHS. To close out Read Across America Week 2026, our elementary schools welcomed some special visitors over the past two days. Forest Elementary was visited by the University of New Haven Football Team 🏈 and the Dance and Cheerleading teams from Southern Connecticut State University along with their mascot Otus the Owl 🦉. Mackrille Elementary also welcomed many guests including Mayor Dorinda Borer, Judge Cirello ⚖️, Superintendent Neil Cavallaro, and several other community members. We hope everyone enjoyed celebrating the joy of reading this week. 📣📚
Important Notice: All West Haven Public Schools will open on a 2-hour delay today due to icy conditions. Please note that Bailey Middle School’s previously scheduled half day has been changed, and students will now dismiss at their normal time today.
